2007 GIL USA DINNER
LONG BEACH MARCH 2007
THE INSTITUTE IS TO HOST AN INDUSTRY DINNER IN LONG BEACH ON MARCH 5 2007
Speaking at today’s announcement, Ben Cook of Kimberly-Clark, Chairman of the Institutes US council said:
“I very much look forward to the event, it gives the U.S council an opportunity to showcase the unique platform that the Institute has developed across the globe over the last couple of years.
As a truly multi stakeholder agency with member companies and executives drawn from right across the world, the Global Institute of Logistics is in a unique position to help shape the business agenda as it emerges in the global logistics arena. Much of the evenings discourse will centre on current issues in the U.S logistics market and in particular how they impact the global supply chain. We, in collaboration with the other major US based stakeholder groups represented on the evening, will explore synergies between our respective organizations. In particular, we will look for ways that we in the U.S can leverage GILs global network to develop a better understanding of the unique challenges faced by logisticians here in the world’s no 1-consumer market.
As is now the norm with the Institutes dinners, the exchange between guests will be candid and open and as always, people will go home with a more informed view on current global thinking”
There are two items for discussion on the night.
1.Firstly to reiterate the overall aim of GIL: to encourage joined-up thinking between stakeholders in the global supply chain.
2.Secondly to look at cross industry efforts to increase the level of visibility in the global supply chain.
