BUILDING THE CHAINPORT NETWORK

WPSF 2013 sees the continued push by the Institute to highlight the enormous opportunities that can be leveraged between like-minded ports, their authorities and communities right across the globe. For the last 15 years, the Port of Shenzhen has been at the forefront of these developments having invited a select group of ports to “sister” with them in pursuit of collaborative and trade development opportunities. Indeed this edition of the forum sees a further port being added to the list, the Canadian Port of Halifax.

FORUM MODERATOR

The 2013 World Port Strategy Forum is part of a world series of Strategy Forums that the Institute convenes across the globe annually. The forums act as a conduit for the transfer of strategy and best practice both to and from the Institute’s global network of Port Communities. The forums bring together a network of local, regional and global maritime logistics stakeholders drawn from the Port Authority, Investor, Operator and End User communities.
WPSF 2013 has a distinctly China centric focus and will divide into two distinct streams
Stream 1 will discuss and debate the implications for world trade and seaports of ‘China’s growing economy’. Recognising that ports have an integral role to play in supporting this development, the forum will explore questions such as:
• What will the role of the port be as the Chinese market opens up?
• What are the challenges in operating the port to global best practice?
• What are the associated investment opportunities?
• How do world ports interact with the end user in this new paradigm?
Stream 2 focuses on “Showcasing World Ports to Chinese Multinationals” The next great wave of Overseas Foreign Direct Investment will come from China and as we will hear, it is already underway. We are particularly delighted to welcome the aigo Entrepreneurs Alliance as our special guest. The aigo Entrepreneurs Alliance aims to promote leading Chinese brands from China’s rapidly growing private sector. AEA is driven by the goal of helping more private Chinese businesses become truly global enterprises.
Our aim today is to share with AEA the vision of partnering with world ports in their quest, we believe we have a great story to tell, that story is Port Centric Logistics
